Vongani Bevula

Vongani Bevula graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Cape Town in 2013, where he studied with Professor Sidwill Hartman. His first appearance on stage was with the production of The Gondoliers by Gilbert and Sullivan for an opera kaleidoscope production at the Baxter theater, where he played the role of Marco.

Vongani furthered his studies, graduating with a post-graduate diploma in music education in 2014. During this time Vongani took part in a number of productions with the Cape Town Opera Vocal Ensemble, performing in opera houses both in South Africa and abroad.

In 2015 Vongani travelled to Europe for opera studies auditions at a number of institutions, succeeding to win a coveted place at the University of Music, Franz Listz, Weimar. There were over 370 singers from all over the world competing for a maximum of 5 places at the school.  Vongani has already been casted in a number of productions in Germany including L’incoronazione di Poppea, Die Csardafuestine and The Merry wives of Windsor.
