Simphiwe Simon Shibambu was born in Johannesburg and he completed his Diploma and BTEC degree in Vocal Arts at Tshwane University of Technology.  He is a bass-baritone and studied singing with Hans Van Heerden.  He has already performed roles in productions of the following Mozart Operas: Die Zauberflöte and Don Giovanni (Leporello) and well as being a soloist for the Requiem.  He also performed Petite Massa Solenelle by Giachomo Rossini, St. Cecilia Massa Solenelle and Faust (Mephistopehele).  

On 10 January 2013 he won the Southern African Opera Singing Competition Amazwi Omzansi in Durban, taking first prize.  He also won the audience prize and first prize at the Clonter Opera Singing competition in the UK in 2015.
