Nomsa Mpofu

Nomsa Mpofu was born in Cape Town and started singing in choral eisteddfodcompetitions with her high school choir Luhlaza high in Khayelitsha. She's a Postgraduate
student at the University of Cape Town studying with George Stevens and Kamal khan
and has participated as a chorus member in several productions. She sang Violetta in a
La traviata extract for the Viva Verdi Kaleidoscope. She performed in the Youth Music
Festival 2012 with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra. Her debut as a soloist was in
the role of Fiordiligi in the CPO/UCT production of Cosi fan tutte followed by Donna Anna
in Don Giovanni and Madame Cortese in Il Viaggio a reims. She also performed with
CPO as Barbarina in the production of Le nozze di figaro. She had also performed
Masses as Schubert Mass in G Major , Haydn Missa brevis in b flat, Mozart Coronation
and Petite messe solonnelle by Rossini. She recently portrayed the role of Mrs Gobineau in "The Medium" with Africa Arts in May 2015.
